Re:  Compassionate Release for Ramiro “Ramsey” Muñiz, 40288-115

Dear President Obama:
The National Political Committee to Free Ramsey Muñiz, respectfully requests that you grant Ramiro R. Muñiz a Compassionate Release from his current incarceration before you leave office. His freedom is a major issue for Mexican Americans throughout the country.
Ramsey Muñiz graduated from Baylor School of Law. He marched with African Americans in defense of civil and human rights, and he represented Mexican Americans, Chicanos, Hispanics, Latinos, and those who had no political voice. At the age of 30 he became a candidate for governor of Texas through a third political party.
Muñiz became a major figure in following the democratic political process. He encouraged others to become a part of the political system in the early 70s. He brought about positive change which helped elect minority leaders in Texas. Due to his activism, he encountered legal problems several times, and today he is serving a sentence of life without parole in Beaumont FCI. He has already served twenty-two years of imprisonment.
Ramsey Muñiz has submitted a Petition for Compassionate Release based on his age, health, good conduct, and having no history of violence. The application was submitted to the Office of the Pardon Attorney by his Clemency Project Attorney, Jared Greenberg.
Muñiz will turn 74 in December. He has chronic medical conditions including severe degenerative joint disease (left hip), microcytic/hypochronic anemia, herniated discs, and an eye infection diagnosed as Bells Palsy, which has impacted his vision and mental capacity. He spends 90% of his time in a wheelchair.
Mr. President, you are the only person who can help! We respectfully ask that you immediately grant his Petition for Compassionate Release. In doing so, Mexican Americans throughout the country will be most grateful, for your leaving a spiritual legacy of helping Hispanics save a man who gave his life to help others educationally and politically.
